Wedding at 3,000 feet
Couple marries in hot air balloon
While some may think it's romantic to simply propose in a hot air balloon, the newly wed Mr. and Mrs. Bryant decided to exchange vows.
WKTU radio personality Paul "Cubby" Bryant and Koko Kawaguchi wanted something small and unique for their wedding, and ultimately landed on eloping in the sky at the 33rd Annual QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning on Saturday.
The first time hot air balloon passengers were joined by their photographer and two close friends, one of whom served as the officiant.
Their fifth guest was pilot Michael Blum of Balloons Over Westchester, and although the company has seen several proposals, the Bryant wedding was its first.
Decked out in full formal wear-- gown, heels and all -- Cubby wore hot air balloon cufflinks with a matching balloon tie and Koko was in an ivory gown with lace accents.
Despite being novices and the pilot's warning of a possibly bumpy landing, the Bryants' only worry was traffic getting to the festival, but they arrived on time and took off at sunset.
