Graveyard smash
N.J. couple hosts vampire wedding
The bride wore black, and arrived in a coffin and hearse.
Elizabeth Griswold and Glenn Barbagallo, professional scarers at Schaefer Farms in Readington, exchanged vows in the cemetery section of the farm's Frightfest.
"I will shield you from the light of day with my flesh," the pair said before exchanging rings.
An ordained minister guided the couple through the 1400's vampyre bonding ceremony.
But the Barbagallo's were not the only ones dressed in full Frightfest garb. Guests included a gypsy witch, the Adams family, a swamp creature and werewolf.
"They're an extended family," Griswold said of the Schaefer Frightfest cast who made up most of the wedding party and guests. "They call us mom and dad. They're just an incredible cast of characters. We're so dedicated."
Bill Schaefer, real shotgun in hand, led the bride and groom down the aisle.
"I got blood all over my hand," Barbagallo said after the ceremony, adding that two weeks earlier the pair had a traditional church wedding to satisfy their relatives.
Fake fangs aside, Griswold of Flemington and Barbagallo of Montague Township, say they "play vampire," for fun.
"We realize we're not really vampires," Barbagallo said, and Griswold had her episcopalian priest OK the ceremony.
The couple, who originally dated in college, reconnected on Facebook over Griswold's Mustang. Barbagallow then joined his wife as a vampire at Schaefer Farms.
Features like pick-your-own pumpkins, hayrides, bounce house and annual Frightfest run every Saturday and Sunday starting Sept. 19 and 20 through Oct. 31.
